In Portal 2 players awake in the Aperture Science Labs as Chell, the heroine of the original game. A great expanse of time has passed since the conclusion of the first game and the gameworld has fallen into visible disrepair, but placed in suspended animation, Chell has survived intact and is revived. With the help of a robotic entity the concluding events of the past game are revealed and you escape your initial confinement, but in doing so GLaDOS, the the AI computer antagonist from the previous game is also reawakened. Just as fickle as ever, GLaDOS' motives are unknown. Insisting on testing you, it may assist you but may also be planning something more sinister.

Gameplay

Like the original game, Portal 2 is a first-person Platform-Puzzle game. In the single player campaign players assume the role of Chell, a former test subject trying to gain her freedom from the Aperture Science facility and GLaDOS, the AI controller of the facility. Set in the test chambers of the facility your goal is to make your way through the game levels using your portal gun (the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device). The portal gun creates temporary passages through solid surfaces, allowing for creative platforming and multiple possible means of clearing a level. The game also requires the player to solve puzzles at times to clear sections of levels. In addition to point-to-point movement through portals, players can also utilize other means of movement of themselves and various objects. These include: using the momentum of portal movement to make jumps to open positions like ledges; tractor beams; and special propulsion/repulsion gels that can be carried or stored.

New Cooperative Mode

Portal 2 contains a multiplayer option in the form of a two-player co-op mode. This is playable both locally and online, with split-screen functionality available in local play and in select places during online play. Players assume the role of one of two robotic characters, Atlas or P-body, both new to the franchise. These two have separated from the control of GLaDOS and so must survive its anger, divvied out in the form puzzles, obstacles and misdirection. Each player has control of their own portal gun, which they use to platform through the game levels, avoiding its dangers and relying on each other.

1. Windows Docking

To Dock a window to the left or right half of the screen, simply drag it to the edge; similarly, you can drag the window to the top of the screen to maximize it, laptop battery and double-click the window top / bottom border to maximize it vertically with the same horizontal width.
You can control Windows through keyboard shortcuts as well:

Win+Left Arrow and Win+Right Arrow dock;

If you're working on a folder or a single window and want to hide/minimize all other open in the background; Grab the window from the title bar and shake it! Yes Shake it a little to left and right and all your opened windows open in background will be minimized.
You can do this from keyboard by pressing Win+Home to minimize all the non-active background windows, keeping the window you're using in its current position. When you're ready or done working on your window, press Win+Home again to restore all the background windows to their original locations.

(Tip: To Minimize ALL running windows at once, press Win+D)

You definitely will want version 4 if you are just starting out or have a couple more levels to do. I have not used the online services yet but have been repeating some sections in the first level where the speech recognition software in V3 would not recognize my correct answer no matter how many times I tried. It works much better in V4 and I passed all. Now they could have made the default setting easier so I moved it up to the most difficult and I still passed all and only had to try a few times on those sounds I know I have difficulty with. Thus, they have improved the software and corrected some glitches from V3.

Using the course software is similar to V3. The layout is better. The only thing is when you are done with a lesson; it does take noticeably longer to return to home screen. That is not a big deal.

If you have V3 on your PC then deactivate it first using their directions. You do not need to remove or delete the program. When you load V4, it will keep your user profiles and what you completed already with scores.

With V3, you could activate the product on 2 PC's. I was told by Rosetta Stone that you can only activate V4 on one PC. You can still have multiple users but the online service can only be activated for one user. So far I have not found out how you can pay extra for multiple users having online service. I am disappointed that you can't activate on 2 PC's but I thought they would charge $1,000 for what I got and it only lists for $750 which I think is reasonable. Remember you get 3 months of online service for each level you buy. I was told by Rosetta Stone the 3 months starts when you activate your online service account which is a separate activation from the course's software. You have 12 months from the date you ordered the software to activate it.

My history with Rosetta Stone is I had V3 Levels 1&2 and completed them this Spring. I was going to buy the rest then; but, from reading the company's quarterly report, I knew they were going to release V4 in the third quarter so I waited. I had a college textbook, ¡ARRIBA! COMUNICACIÓN Y CULTURA, 5th edition, and used it along with their online extras because I figured I would learn some grammar rules in the mean time. Understanding some grammar rules was helpful, but I found trying to memorize the new words and understand stuff I had not learned through Rosetta Stone was ineffective and boring so I lost interest after a few months. This is why I bought V4 on the opening day and highly recommend it for self study.

I never used any Rosetta Stone products before, so I wasn't sure what to expect from it. I was pleasantly surprised by their method of teaching. It if fun, it keeps you on your toes, and it makes you to want to study just a little bit more, and more, and more. So far, I finished with unit 1 and three of the four lessons for unit 2, both from level 1. After I was done with unit one, I scheduled the live lesson and went to play some games on Rosetta World. There are two types of games - one for one person, and another for playing with other people learning the language at about the same level as you are. Since it is new product, there are not yet too many people there to play with, but I did score a few games and it was fun, too. I have never encountered anyone online for the Simbio games yet, but I hope it will change when more people join and start learning. By now I had three live lessons with a native speaker. The lessons last about 50 minutes, and the teachers are nice and supportive. It is nice to hear how the language sounds from different people. You can see the teacher in a little window on the side of your screen, so you can understand them better.

I had two technical issues with Rosetta software, one was resolved, but the other one not. I have an XP computer, and the program would not start when I click on it, but give me fatal error, so I have to go to tweak some settings to get it to work, and I have to do it almost every day, which is annoying. The tech support guy answered very quickly (in just a few minutes, and this was at about midnight) but he couldn't provide long term solution, and said that he referred my case to his superiors. Hope they could help me.

This complete course includes everything you need. After you install it, it's immediately ready to use--no instructions required. You just jump right in. The interface is very intuitive, with clear prompts for when you speak, click, or type. It never stops and teaches you rules of grammar or word lists--you just pick them up through modified repetition. The course uses a combination of spoken and written language, coupled with images, to teach in a very intuitive way. Unlike audio-only courses, though, you also get the opportunity to read and write the language. Since a new language can look very different from how it sounds, this is really helpful.

The course includes software, a USB headset, and a set of audio CDs you can download to your ipod or take along with you for some portable reinforcement.

I'm not too far along, but I'm really enjoying it so far, finding it simple and fun to use. One really cool feature is that it has you go back and repeat earlier lessons at regular intervals to reinforce vocabulary and sentence structure.

There is also an online component I haven't tried (my schedule's a little erratic in the fall & it's time-sensitive, so I don't want to sign up until I'm confident I can commit), a nice bonus.

The only downside I can see is the cost. This program is quite expensive, but it's immediately so much better than any language course I've tried before (I seem to buy a book or a set of tapes or CDs DVDs every couple years), that I think it's a very good value for the money.

With my daughter beginning her first year of Spanish classes, Rosetta Stone V4 TOTALe Spanish is a most welcome arrival. This version contains interactive course software, live sessions with native language instructors, fifteen month subscription for online assistance, and programmed activities to stimulate conversation in Spanish.

Rosetta Stone developers have penned this natural form of learning as Dynamic Immersion. Its based on the way we picked up our first language. Of note, this volume is Latin America Spanish and not Castilian. The software downloaded easily and the activation process was relatively smooth. The enclosed USB headset with microphone is above average in quality and covers the basics. An application is also available for MP3 players and iPhones. I didn't go that route.

After a hitting a few learning roadblocks the program has really taken off for me. I highly recommend that users set a regular scheduled time, place and date to fully gain a foothold on the course. I found that matching phrases and words with the accompanying images is a great tool in itself. This combination alone gets high marks from me. I look forward to reaching the comfort level where I can practice with others in the program's online community. The interactive software sells itself.

Make no mistake, this outstanding tool is a top of the line tutorial all the way. However, it alone is not going to be enough. No single program or course of instruction is. I picked up other support materials. Whether its a dictionary, verb workbook or even a phrase handbook, nothing beats a good hard copy and of course, taking notes.

That said, I find Rosetta Stone V4 TOTALe:Spanish to be a premium learning vehicle that delivers on a grand scale. I would definitely recommend it.

Kaspersky replaced McAfee on my computer, low resource utilization and no problems. Easy installation.

Not only can I use my computer at any time, I can also print on my wireless connected printer. McAfee decided that since I did not have their product installed on the "computer" on my home network I could not use it. To print I had to disable the firewall. Kaspersky correctly identifies the device as a printer and have no problems using all of the features of my all-in-one.

The installation was flawless and fast, even though there was a new version available and the download was large.

Full system scan runs very quietly on the background and I don't even notice it is doing anything, I had to open the window to see if it was still doing it or it was completed. It also ran in half the time of what McAfee used to take, and you do notice McAfee when it is running.

Another advantage is that it has not used up another license because I am running a multi-core processor, McAfee had me at five licenses because of this problem. My computer is set-up as a single user computer.

I have not contacted support for anything, so I can't rate it.

I have not found any of the problems reported in other reviews for 64-bit based systems with multi-core processor (Intel i7 X980) and Windows 7 ultimate, every program performs flawlesly and starts faster than they were starting before I switched to Kaspersky.

I never heard of Kaspersky until I read the reveiw on MaximumPC. I've used AVG for the last 3 years and it seemed to do the job and my license was about to expire to so this came just in time. MaximumPC magazine gave it a 9 out of 10 KickAss rating and let me tell you it's definitly KickAss. I am currintly running Window 7 Ultimate 64bit and itnstalled flawlessly and it running like a champ. Vistied a couple of Torrent sited and wow the protection is outstanding. I am happy with the protection that Kaspersky has to offer....

As was the case last year, after taking a month-long test run with the latest internet security suites (Avast, Norton, McAfee), I have come away very impressed with Kaspersky Internet Security. I own a 4-year-old Dell XPS 410 with an Intel Core 2 6700 CPU @ 2.66GHz, equipped with a RAID 0 650 GB dual hard drive, 4 GB DDR2 RAM and an Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 640 MB "Direct X 10"-compatible graphics card. I have been using KIS on this computer since 2007, back in the days when I had Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit installed. While I was initially unimpressed with KIS's performance on Vista 32-bit, ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, KIS has shown itself to be a terrific, smooth-running (if imperfect) security suite that is improving with each new incarnation.

After using Norton for years and getting totally frustrated with their horrible service and an atrocious product called Norton 360, I switched to Kaspersky about 3 years ago. That was a great move because Kaspersky has better customer service and a SUPERIOR product. Let me start by saying Kaspersky is the best consumer product for protection of your computer, however, they have significant problems every time they upgrade to a new version.

One of the pluses of buying this product is the following. If a new version comes out during your one year cycle, you can upgrade to the new product for FREE. The downside, with both the 2010 and 2011 upgrades, I had major problems. With 2010 my system slowed to a crawl for weeks until they finally fixed the problem. I was one day away from leaving the product for good when it was finally corrected. I thought they learned their lesson but they didn't because 2011 is causing a new array of problems.

With Kaspersky 2011, if you open up a photo, and Windows 7 uses Windows Photo Viewer by default, it will completely LOCK UP your system. I'm talking about a total lock up. You cannot use Ctrl-Alt-Delete to get to the Task Manager and you can't even reboot. The one and only way to get your system restarted is to turn off the power, wait about 30 seconds, and turn your computer back on. That is totally unacceptable!

On it's user support forum, I heard the company has a fix but it may not be out for another few weeks. Hearing something on a forum is inadequate. Instead of COMMUNICATING with all of it's customers, Kaspersky uses the SILENT approach which helps nobody. The company should have sent an email to every customers saying:

1. We have a problem with the 2011 upgrade

2. When you do X, your computer will lock up

3. We are aware of the problem and are working on an update to fix the issue.

4. The "Tentative" Date for the fix is whatever date they select

5. In the interim, we recommend you do XXX

Everyone appreciates and understands when a company acknowledges they made a mistake and a they're working hard to correct the problem. Nobody wants to be ignored and left out of the loop. So as much as I like and respect the actual product, I would NOT touch Kaspersky 2011 because management refuses to be honest and communicate with it's customers.

The Kaspersky Internet Protection on my computer is the only one we have ever installed. This name is second only to Cisco, unless you own your own servers ! The technical support for the Kaspersky is offered on such a personal level of privacy that it has become extreemly important to me. If at anytime I need advice, tech support, or a question, the call is answered right here in the US. The tech support connect member for me, is the same everytime I need help. I just hit "Reply" at the bottom of the last email, and he sees everything we ever talked about, so no need for me to repeat anything. There is also a US number to call and speak directly to a tech support representative.I just put a gmail label on the first response they sent, and send every email beck to that label. On the lighter side, my loving genius big brother,who had McCaffy,(sp)was bragging about not having to "pay that much" for internet protection, and didn't think I should eithor...well, that was the week before McCaffy crashed, and now he has Kaspersky !!! Sometimes you just gotta love being right over your big brother !!!

I have never used VMware or anything else for creating a virtual machine on my MACBOOK PRO 13.3 the newest version. Just installed this and i think this is just fabulous. It gives you windows 7 on your macbook + the OSX and you can do anything and everything on both of the OS's.

The speed is excellent, no lag... its as smooth as butter. Switching is a snap and my God windows 7 looks damn gorgeous on my glossy screen hahaha.

I am a recent Parallels 5.0 user. I am amazed at how much better Parallels is than Vmware and have been very happy with it so far, including the speed. I used to carry around a small Dell laptop to give demos to clients but now all I need is my Mac. Very happy. But for all you Amazon shoppers, my advice is to buy 5.0 since it's so much cheaper and you get an automatic free upgrade to 6.0. It's crazy to pay full price when you can get it for less. It's even cheaper than the $49 Parallels wanted to charge my friend for an upgrade. All in all, very happy so far with 6.0 and definitely recommend it.

I was incredibly intrigued by this software because I'd always wanted to try voice recognition software. You see, I'm not the fastest typist in the world and sometimes I'm thinking of something and it doesn't always quite come out because I just can't type as fast as my mind thinks. So I always wanted to try voice recognition software and I decided to go ahead and try this and I must say that right out of the box it's pretty impressive. In fact right now I'm writing this review with the software and it's already much faster than typing it by hand, at least for me. The software installed in about half an hour and I went through a short bit of training with the software that lasted about 15 minutes. Right after the training, the voice recognition was very accurate. I would say as high as 90% right off the bat which is pretty great, and given everything I've read about it, I know it's only getting better from there once it realizes how I talk and how I annunciate. Then it's really going to grasp exactly what I'm saying into the microphone. And speaking of the microphone, the microphone that comes with the software is nothing flashy but it's nice and it does the job quite well, so definitely no complaints there either. I highly recommend this software because it's doing exactly what I needed it to: Recognize my voice and transcript everything I'm saying directly onto the screen without any hassle whatsoever, so in my opinion this software works brilliantly. And I know it's also only going to get better from here. So if you're looking for this type of software I cannot recommend this one highly enough, because in my opinion it even excelled my own expectations. This review is the first thing I've use the software for and I've only had to go back and change three things which is pretty impressive right out of the box so I definitely recommend it.

I just upgraded from 10 to 11 premium and it seems to work great. it is faster, works better, and makes far less mistakes as version 10. I see a lot of people here complaining about it not working correctly and being buggy, I do see what they are seeing. I did deactivate my antivirus during the install, and my computer has all the windows updates needed before I installed. I also have updated all the installed software to make sure it was all up to date.

I have a vista 64 bit system upgraded to windows 7 ultimate. I do know that ultimate has more compatibility than lesser versions. I use an hp system. I am also using the wireless version of the product running it into a usb 2.0 port. At first there were some small issues with the software, but after I used it for about 1 week they all seemed to go away.

It seems like a nice upgrade from version 10 and things are better and smoother. I would recommend buying it. I only gave it 4 stars because the software is and always has been less than perfect. I think that it is going to be many years before this type of software works perfectly every time, so if that is what you are expecting you will be disappointed.

Also, it takes some patience, so be prepaired to have some...

This has been an excellent product for me to sync address and calendar across 3 ipod touches, i pad, 2 macbook pros, 1 PC, as well as the mobileme website. I just change the information in one device and as soon as it has internet connection, it updates across all devices. Gone are the days where i am plugging in my phone to sync my calendar. And gone are the days where i forget to do a sync and therefore miss an appointment because I am looking at the wrong calendar.

I have multiple calendars set up within the calendar so that i have one for each family member and personal things. on any of the devices, i can turn off one or more of the calendars so i dont' have to see them all.

You can also mobile me to save things like pictures, files, etc to the mobileme "cloud", which can work as a back up---or, more commonly, be a way to share the pictures or documents you have with others--even those who don't have mobile me.

The "find your phone or ipad feature" can be a lifesaver. If the feature is turned on on your device, you can get find exactly where it is located. You can also send a message to the screen if someone finds it. One great message to send, that can freak someone out if they stole it is to type the exact address where they are located so it comes on the screen. my friend did this and the "thiefs" then returned it to the lost and found at the airport later that day. You can also use it to wipe out your data on the phone, touch, or ipad so that other people can't have access to it.

you also get a mailbox, but i personally don't use that.

you can almost always purchase this cheaper on amazon than through apple. You can also still purchase the older version, sometimes at a reduced cost. The products are the same and you will have the exact same functioning as all you really get is a key code to work the mobile me website.

I highly recommend this---you will love the amount of time and hassle you save. And your family will love that you can send them a link to view photos or files.

Something that seems to be missing from the All Mobile Me Can Do is host your websites. That is my primary purpose and since it is for my business I get to write the whole thing off on my taxes. But saving $35 (that includes what shipping would cost before Super Saver Free Shipping)
Why Apple does this I do not know... but they do support this and if from the other reviews I have read before (but they seem to be missing now...maybe for the older version) you just get an activation number that you enter into your Mobile Me account settings. Then your set to go.
Definitely one of the better bargains on Amazon. Now only if they dropped the price of the small kindle to $80 I would get it. For now I just use my iPad to read on.
